BROTHERHOOD MINISTRY
The philosophy of brotherhood: Work is based on an understanding
of God’s reconciling work in the world. The purpose of brotherhood
is to help churches involve men, young men and boys in mission.
This purpose is expressed in mission activities, mission study,
mission support, and in developing personal ministry in mission.
Brotherhood helps men and boys express and further develop
their relationship with the Father by encouraging them to
be transforming agents of spiritual, physical, and emotional
needs for persons outside the church.
Brotherhood is part of the total work of the church, with
emphasis on men and
boys, the church and community at large.
The relationship between brotherhood and Mission Ministry
is unquestioned. They share the concern that for a church
to be missionary, maximum church member involvement must be
sought. Brotherhood provides the primary channel or mission
involvement by men and boys.
Brotherhood representatives serve on the Mission Ministry.
They enter into discussion with other members, make motions
and participate by voting on issues, strategies, plans, etc.
Additionally, they serve both organizations as a liaison.
They communicate the active plans and concerns of the Brotherhood
to the Mission Ministry. They also share the concerns, discovery
of needs, activities, etc. with the Brotherhood. By serving
in this way they help to avoid duplication of mission activities.
The Brotherhood Ministry is a fellowship, which enables the
men of the church to be ministers of the Word through an action-study
approach that encourages their involvement in missions, ministry,
and evangelism.
