HEALTH CARE MINISTRY
The Health Care Ministry consist of members
who are considered the nurses of the church. They are adequately
trained and prepared for any emergency that may arise.
Mission Statement: To provide
spiritual care and support to the members of the church in
time of illness and grief, and to provide the church and community
with education that focuses on health prevention and wellness.
History: The Healthcare
Ministry was established at Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist church
in 1973 under the leadership of the late Pastor Roscoe Wade
and with the assistance of Sis. Shirley Grinlesy. The ministry
was initially call the Nurses’s Guild and consisted of nine
members: Dea Joe Bea Jr., Sis Betty Sparrow, Sis Agnes McGhee,
Sis Sisleono Jacob, Sis Rose Everett, Sis Udell Black, Sis
Jeanette Whittney, Sis Martha Hunter, and Sis Pearlie Coar.
The name of the ministry as changed to Healthcare Ministry
in 2003 under the leadership of our late president, Patricia
Black.

02/13/06 A free wellness class (nutrition classes)
in conjunction with Hebni Nutrition Consultants of Sisters
Take Charge. This 12 week program consists of free health
screenings the first two sessions which includes the following:
cholesterol,blood pressure,blood sugar testing, body mass
index and triglycerides. The objective is for the participant
to learn strategies for controlling diabetes, reducing their
blood pressure, weight loss, and learning ways to cook and
eat healthy.
02/15/06 In conjunction with the Health Department,
we provided blood pressure screenings and the Health Department
presented a lecture on Sexually Transmitted Diseases among
senior at Antioch Manor, a senior citizen living facility.

Requirements for Joining:
-Male/Female over 14 years of age
-Healthcare professionals or nonprofessionals interested
in providing service to those who are in need
-Completion of a 4 hour Red Cross First Aid Course within
6 months of joining
-Completion of a CPR (adult, child, and infant) within 6
months of joining
