
Mt. Sinai Girl Scouts Troop #524
Purpose: Girl scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
The Mt. Sinai Girl Scouts troops main objects is to be an assistance to their internal community (the church body) and the external community. Our troop is open to the community as well. Currently, 40 percent of the girls are from the community.
The various levels of girl scouts are as followed:
Daisy’s Kindergarten and 1st grade
Brownies 2nd to 4th grade
Juniors 5th to 7th
Cadettes 8th grade
Seniors 9th – 10th
Ambassador’s 11th – 12th grades
Volunteers
However, if the girls have not mastered all of the skills in one level they are not bridge up to the next level. We are always looking for volunteers to assist with the troops.
The following are a list of annual activities for the Girl Scouts to be placed on the website.
Annual Events:
Princess Dance – Father Daughter Dance (January)
This is a special dance created for the girl and her father (or a father figure) to spend quality time together. This is a time for the father to demonstrate how his princess should be treated on a date.
Girl Scouts Cookie Sale (February)
This fundraiser is how the troop funds the majority of its activities. All girls are encouraged to participate. Various skills are developed with this event such as math, money handling, customer service, salesmen, dedication, commitment and goal setting.
Thinking Day (March)
Thinking Day is a day set aside for each level of girl scouts to inform others about girl scouts in a different country. The girls normally work on this project over a month time period. They are required to prepare a food item that is specific to that country. They girls are required to present a scientific board at the annual Thinking Day.
Camporee (April)
This is the annual camping trip with other girl scouts troops. Camping trips vary each year. Normally, the girls spend two nights out in the woods in tents, cabins or tree-houses. Camporee is normally attended by various troops in the service units. Survival skills are developed and unique cooking skills are demonstrated.
Water Park (May)
Girl Scouts has a day out at the water parks for all girls and their family. This event is designed to have all of the girls spend time together in a relax environment. Family members are invited to this function.
